In the night of October 18th an arson attack was carried out to the house of a Romanian Roma family in Frankfurt/Fechenheim. The immediate reaction of an occupant who removed the fire brand prevented a disaster. As to the information from Roma Union there are also ten little children living in this house. Roma Union has pointed out several times that there is an alarming sentiment towards Roma in Frankfurt/Main. When they tried to intervene between Roma and Non-Roma they experienced a strong racist mentality and great prejudice, aiming at the expulsion of the familiy. Also a certain readiness for violence cannot longer be excluded. Roma Union cannot support the view of the police that this arson attack has no xenophobic background. Roma Union demands of the police to grant police protection to the family or to offer them a different flat. Moreover, they claim a complete clearance of this arson attack.
