Circle Widens in Baby-Trade Affair

The newest affair in a lively Hungarian Baby-Trade with the USA which has come to light recently is increasing its circle of suspects.The famous and popular medical scientist Endre Czeizel, well known for his Hungarian TV.series, is suspected by the Budapest police of being involved in the baby-trade. According to the daily newspaper (Nepszabadsag) the police intend to interview the popular scientist. Czeizel openly admitted, that he believed that the ethnic baby-trade with the USA gave the babies a much better chance in life and for this reason should not be misjudged. In the police investigation, incriminating letters and documents were found which implicated the Professor and his secretary. In a statement from the Scientist, he claimed that an agent organised the deals and that he personally did not profit from the baby-trade. A Canadian woman with Hungarian antecedents and who has been sittingin jail these past few days, visited pregnant women and slipped themin to the USA where they were admitted into Californian hospitals where they were born thus giving them an automatic USA citizenship and werethen sold to well-of American couples for US.$ 80.000.The mothers of white babies recieved US.$ 18.000, and the mothers of Roma babies only US.$1.000.More tha 100 babies have been sold to well-off American couples since 1994.
