Police in Belgrad arrested two skinheads on suspicion of having beaten a young Sinti to death.
The suspects are 2 youngsters aged seventeen, said the minstry of internal affairs according to several newspaper reports on Tuesday. As motive for their brutal attack they gave racist motivated intollerance,as reason. Mr. Sasa Bovan, adviser to the minister for internal affairs said that a prision sentence would be inevitable for the 2 young men.
The suspects held up a 13 year old boy on Saturday in the centre of Belgrad. They kicked him using their boots and hit him with iron bars. As a result they broke his neck, the boy died shortly after.
The victim will be buried on Tuesday afternoon in a suburb of Belgrad. His relatives called for a protest meeting after the funeral.
The number of known skinheads living in the Serbian capital of Belgrad since beginning of the war is estimated to be about 300. They have continuously attacked Sinti and Roma, but nobody has been killed up to now .
