In Lübeck author Günter Grass officially introduced his foundation which he established for the benefit of the Roma people.The foundation was given a capital of DM 250.000,- to be used for advancing journalistic and scientific works dealing with the social situation of the Roma people. Grass (die Blechtrommel/Die Rättin) and his wife Ute, both living in Lübeck, established the foundation already in August. After the foundation Alfred -Döblin-Preis and a foundation to promote German/Polish cultural relat ionships it is the third institution of this kind the author has initiated and financed.
