On April 10th, the legal defence office for National & Ethnic Minorities presented their second annual paper, which reported 35 serious incidents of racial discrimination and violations against Roma in Hungary in1995. In particular shocking for the authors was the high degree of Fascist violence and institutional racism in the ares of health and legal security and the additional racial transgressions by local police units. The authors of the report came to the realisation that racismis a very real part of every day life and has become a normality in Hungary. More than 40 % of the Hungarian Roma are unemployed.
